I wanted to share a little update with you all about a change I've made - I've decided to change my English name to 'Yunnie'. This decision is inspired by the deeper meanings behind my Chinese name '筠霓' (Yún Ní).
The name 'Yunnie' aligns more closely with my Chinese name, and here's why I made this change:
My Chinese name, '筠霓', carries significant symbolism. '筠' embodies the essence of bamboo, reminding me of its resilient and flexible nature. Just like bamboo, I strive to approach life with resilience and adaptability, bending but not breaking in the face of challenges. '霓' represents the beautiful halo of light that appears after the rain, reminding me to seek the brightness and hope even in cloudy moments.
The decision to adopt 'Yunnie' over my previous name 'Connie' was driven by the desire to harmonise with the values encapsulated in '筠霓'. In 'Connie', the 'Co' suggests a closed-off state, centered around oneself. Wanting to embrace an open-hearted approach, I looked for a name that resonated with the concept of opening up and connecting positively with the world.
In 'Yunnie', the 'Yu' element evokes an upward and open shape, symbolising the journey of opening up my inner self, inviting in positivity and love, and embracing the light that the world has to offer. It encapsulates the aspiration to approach life with an open mind and heart, spreading positivity and embracing the world's beauty.
I believe that names carry energy and meaning, and this change reflects my ongoing journey of personal growth and self-discovery. Thank you all for your support and understanding as I embrace this new chapter as 'Yunnie'.
Wishing you all a radiant journey ahead, filled with love and light.
